This blog is a chronicle of my final 30 weeks of training for my first Ironman Triathlon (Wisconsin). An Ironman is a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and a 26.2 mile run in under 17 hours.

Two and a half years ago, I was obese. I didn’t run, I didn’t own a bike, and  I hadn’t hit a pool in twenty years.

I plan to use this space to chronicle this journey. Partly to document these final steps, but to look back at the journey so far.

The format for this blog will be as follows:

1) Weekly training blog-what my goals were for the past week, and what I accomplished. I will reflect on if I am on track, and if I need to make any adjustments.

2) Flashback Fridays-weekly reflection on the journey so far. I will start with my first steps towards weight loss, and move forward through my last 2+ years, and will finish with where I am today. I will be wrapping this up in 30 weeks, right before race day.

3)  Events- Race Reports when appropriate.

4) Random Musings- Anything that doesn’t fit elsewhere.

This is partially a diary for me to look back on. But I hope others will be interested, will provide support or insight. Maybe I may even inspire someone to try something new and out of their comfort zone. I would love to see this page link with others who are on the same journey, or dreaming to try…
